Local Participant

WHAT IS LOCAL PARTICIPANT

A Local Participant (LP) is an individual who trades derivatives solely on their own account, using the services of a registered Trading Participant (TA Futures). LPs operate independently and are not permitted to trade on behalf of others.

KEY ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA

– Be at least 21 years of age 

– Be of good character with no record of fraud or dishonesty
– Not be an undischarged bankrupt
– Establish arrangements with a Trading Participant and a Clearing Participant
– Meet the Exchanges risk capital requirements
– Not be a director or employee of any Trading Participant (unless approved)
– Satisfy all additional Exchange requirements
– For foreign applicants: Hold a valid work permit issued by the relevant Malaysia authorities

APPLICATION PROCESS OVERVIEW

1. Contact TA Futures to initiate your application
2. Submit all required documentation (as outlined in this document)
3. Attend an interview with Bursa Malaysia Derivatives
4. Complete the mandatory 2-day Familiarisation Programme
5. Upon approval, your registration as a Local Participant will be confirmed

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

– Act with integrity and professionalism
– Refrain from market manipulation and unethical trading
– Ensure confidentiality of all material, non-public information
– Trade strictly for your own account only
– Fully comply with Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Rules & Directives, including future updates

REQUIRED DOCUMENT

– 2 recent passport-size photos
– NRIC (for Malaysians) or passport copy (for foreigners)
– A valid work permit (for foreigners)
– 3-month bank statements (savings/deposits)
– Academic/professional certificates
– CCM/SSM registration documents
– 2 letters of reference
– 2 signed agreements with TA Futures
**Additional documentation may be requested by Bursa Malaysia Derivatives if deemed necessary.
